Assisted Dying Bill - Prayer and Preparation

At Synod this year the following motion was passed:

“That this Synod reaffirms its decision of 2014 (Motion 4) and continues to oppose any move to legalise euthanasia or physician-assisted-suicide in New Zealand. Furthermore, it urges ministry units and individuals to:
  1. Make submissions opposing the End of Life Choice Bill to their local MPs;
  2. Advocate increased spending on and resourcing for enhanced palliative and end-of-life care.
  3. To request Standing Committee to appoint a group to advise and comment on any amendments to the Bill.

On 13 November Parliament will vote on whether the End of Life Choice (euthanasia and assisted suicide) Bill should become law. If the majority of MPs vote against it, there will be no referendum.
In accordance with the motion passed at Synod, we urge you and your ministry unit to make submissions opposing this Bill. There are many ways to express your opposition to this Bill:

Finally, please plan prayer meetings on Wednesday November the 13th to pray for the process and all those involved in it. When you have made a plan let Stephen know and he will promote it online.
